Two irises from our garden — one built entirely from seigaiha chiyogami, pattern becoming petal, the other painted in deep velvet purple.
This is a painting about the bravery of returning. The iris does it every year without being asked — pushing up through cold ground, opening without apology, bringing the whole garden back to life one purple bloom at a time.
Title is after Louise Glück, “The Wild Iris.”
