36 x 36 inches Oil and cold wax collage with Japanese Chiyogami paper on canvas
SOLD
Japanese crab apple blossoms in deep crimson-magenta, close-cropped and commanding against a luminous gold ground. A dark branch cuts diagonally through the composition, chiyogami fragments breathing through the leaves beneath layers of paint. One bloom enters the frame still arriving — not yet fully here.
Two mythologies meet in these petals without competing. Celtic tradition reads the crab apple as love and union. Eastern aesthetics see elegance and beauty. This painting holds both — fierce and tender, decorated and deeply true.
Title Inspired by the poetry of Shakira Nandini.
